Not what you think, unfortunately. I recently had a job interview at a company that takes its interviewing process very, very seriously. Like 6 short interviews in one day. Some of them are more Q&A informative types where I can get to know the company, others are where they try to get to know me.

I went into the whole process determined to be the most confident badass I could be, and focused a lot on posture and eye contact. It worked. People paid more attention to me, and spent more time addressing my questions.

But the best part was one of the interviews, it was me, a guy, and a girl being interviewed by a woman maybe 5+ years older than me. I maintained eye contact with her the whole time, and the results were almost funny. In a minute or so, she adjusted her body position to face me (we were all sitting) and looked right at me when answering questions, even if one of the other applicants had asked it. It got to the point where the other guy in the group tried to lean in front of me to intercept her gaze – and she moved so she could still see me. Needless to say, if I don't get a follow-up interview I'll be pretty surprised.

TL;DR: Inner game isn't just for getting laid. Act confident and give off a good vibe and people will respect you, period.
