Hi all! Long long long time lurker, first post, still very much an AFC. I approached four sets and nailed two number closes over the course of last night. I could use some help escalating during a set. The two venues were a house party (basically an art major and chemistry major mixer) and a bar.

First Set:

Group of girls at this party. I approached, said "what's up?" and we joked around about some of the stuff they had setup in the apartment (ones of those jokes where everyone knows it has been taken for too long). Girls seemed more interested in talking with each other than with me. I excused myself and walked around the apartment.

Second Set:

I caught a cute girl staring at the bookshelf in this apartment. Opened with "If you were to pick one book on this shelf to read, which one would it be?" She picked some 15th century illustration book. We opened it up and looked at it but I had nothing to comment. She asked me which on I would pick. I didn't see any chemistry books so I opted out to be funny and chose this 8 page book called "How to Draw Dogs." That got a laugh out of her. We sat on a couch an had a dog drawing contest and she schooled me (she concluded that it was a tie). I was using some kino (light touches to her arm) but when I would sit close to her she scooch away from me keeping the distance constant. Eventually another guy came over to talk to us and after that she got up and left.

Third Set:

Standing by the keg at this party talking to people when a couple of girls come by to refill their drinks. They needed help using the keg and they asked about what beer it was. That opened the set to me to talk about my favorite beers with these girls. One of the girls left but I continued to have an engaging coversation with this other girl (HB8) about beer, textiles, art, etc. I would introduce some kino (more light arm touches when I was talking) but the space between us never got closer. We talked for about a half hour and then she asks me for the time. I tell her and she swears then says she needs to go to another party. I ask her "If you ever want to visit breweries or talk about beer, can I get your number?" She replied yes after a brief, fraction of a second stutter/hesitation.

Fourth Set:

Opened a set of two girls (HB7 and HB5) sitting at a table at a bar. I was talking with them and HB7 was leaving frequently and returning (going to the bathroom, getting drinks). I had some great conversation with the HB5. My friends I came to the bar with wanted to bounce so I tell them I have to go. HB5 offers her number to me and the HB7 programs HB5's number into my phone.

Self-Reflection/Analysis

  • I can make great conversation easily about mostly any topic. I can keep these girls engaged in conversation for long periods of time.
  • Need to work on escalating/flirting with girls. I have never felt like I have flirted with a girl. I feel like this is my biggest weakness. I am a little lost in what to say.
  • I am comfortable with intorducing kino but it seems to grow into heavier kino (this probably will get better if I improve item above).
  • Don't know how to proceed with setting up a date with the HB8 (third set). I have read the sidebar "Texting/phone game." I am going to try sending her a text later today asking her to meet me at a bar Monday night.

TL;DR: Opened four sets and got two numbers. I am good at holding interesting conversations with girls but I can't escalate/flirt with girls.
