Okay, Seddit. Prepare to be disappointed.
So a few friends and I went out to see The Avengers tonight. I wore my Captain America Hoodie because I was pumped for the movie and IDGAF. So after the movie we decided to hit up this Mexican themed bar for some margaritas.
My friends and I are drinking and having a good time when a HB8 comes up to me with her friends and tells me, "I only came over here to take a picture with you only if you put the mask on and pick me up." So I pick her up and take the picture and chat for a bit with her and her friend but don't keep it going from there and go back to drinking with my friends. Then ANOTHER HB8 squeezes by me (it was crowded) grabs me by the hips and says, "That hoodie is everything I want in my life." I laugh and joke with her for a bit and go back to my friends.
Now, I have been reading theory for the last couple of months and I felt like I comprehended and internalized a lot of it but none of what I've learned was in my brain at the time. I was so crippled by anxiety that I couldn't make it past only a few minutes of interaction. I am aware that I blew 2 huge opportunities. I was literally shaking from nervousness afterwards but played it off and kept on with my night with my friends.
My friends decided to go off to a club for dancing and more drinks but I told them I was calling it a night only because I knew I would only be stifled by more anxiety. So here I sit, typing about this disappointment of a night, knowing I could have done more. What could I have done/what can I do in the future to overcome this? How bad is my anxiety when I know what I'm supposed to do, but simply can't.
I realize the Captain America thing probably wont work outside of this weekend because of the Avengers hype. But I obviously need some work on my apparently non existent game. Can't help but feel like I let myself and the community down.
