me and a friend of mine were reading Barney Stinson's playbook last night, and couldnt stop laughing at all the weird-ass approaches. Eventually, it came time to go out, but my friend held me back. He bet me that if i used any approach from that book successfully, he'd give me 20 bucks. Naturally, i accepted, and started looking for the easiest, best approach there. There was one called "Brian's friend". it seemed easy enough, so away we went.
Skip two hours later, after we've had a drink or two opening up a couple sets for fun, We bounce to a different bar, order a new round, and i spot a HB7 to my far right. I give my friend the look, and it's on.
I walk over to her, and excitedly say "Hey, didnt think i'd see you here!" She looked puzzled and asked me, "uh, do i know you?" i scoffed and said, "psh, of course you should, brian told me you thought i was hilarious! You remember brian?" She asked, "which brian?" I told her "Brian Woods?" To which she replied "sorry, i dont know any brian woods." I gave her a puzzled look and said "oh really? My mistake, i got you confused for a girl named Jessica, she had the exact same necklace as you, it looked as gorgeous on her as it does on you. You know, i gotta ask, your perfume is lovely, i can smell it all the way from here, what is it?"
I opened her successfully, and we started talking about clothes, this movie i remembered i (thankfully) saw this past week, and i got a #-close, and she told me this jessica girl was right. I was pretty damn hilarious. eventually, she had to leave, so I went back to my buddy, and he quietly slipped me a twenty next to my drink, along with a pat on the back.
Tl;dr: used an opener from a comedy seduction handbook, and it actually worked.
