I was dancing some with a girl on Thursday at a club, but was dancing with other people too. I got to know her some in between songs. We started dancing again later, then I met her friends. I thought they introduced themselves as all family (all guys.) We danced some more, and I escalated. Normally in country western dancing, you should maintain a certain distance, but I use bodily cues to know when to come in closer. It was getting late, I had already #closed earlier, so instead of just leaving it at that, I talked about future plans. She told me that she wanted to come back the same place the next day. I told her I could come, and would bring some friends along. k-close, part ways, end of night.

Or so I thought.

It took me 1 minute to get home, and it took them about 10 minutes. She texted me soon after saying that the cousins were going to have an after party. I asked if the party was going to be at their place or somewhere else. About 10 minutes later, she texted back saying that they were acting dumb, and no longer want to party, but we were still on for Friday.

Fast forward to Friday. I show up with my friends, a guy and a girl. I was hoping for more girls to dance with the other guys, but that did not happen. There were some familiar faces from the night before in the set, but I I'm not great with faces, so I would not have been able to tell all of them from a line up from the night before. In hindsight, I think new guy entered the mix, but in the loudness and confusion, my friends and I by the end of the night had wrongly established, either by misinformation or assumption, that they were all family. One of the guys were getting close to her some during the night. I was unintentially being beta. More on that later. We were dancing, and having a good time. The guy goes to dance with her. It didn't phase me, I went and danced with some people. I came back a few times, and neither she, nor my friends, were there, so more dancing with others happened. I ended up #closing someone (that is not normal me, but she was gone a looong time.) We caught up to each other a later. We danced, kissed some, and had a good time.

We closed the club down, and everyone was in after party mode. I found out earlier that the previous night had no party because the guys could not find girls that night. It wasn't the case this time, as there was 1 of my friends, and 2 other females.

We get to their place, and have a few drinks, and get in the pool. Before we get in the pool, there was already some of the other people in the pool, and then some type of mini argument broke out about between one of the cousins and the lease holder not wanting people to get naked and getting complained to buy other residents. My friends and I did not get into it with them, and just got into the pool, along with the girl that I was hanging out with.

The girl I was hanging out with was talking to one of my friends, and I was talking to another one the females. I put her on my back, but I was talking up the girl I was originally with the whole time amongst other small talk. I was close enough to the original girl that she could hear what I was saying. My friend and her finished their conversation, and I finished my conversation and put the girl down. I picked up the girl that I was originally with, and we were smiling and talking and kissing some.

I don't know when the guy from earlier got in the pool, but he was by himself, and he did not look to be having that good of a time. I neither knew why nor cared. After a little while, he came over to us and told her that they needed to talk. I figured it was due to the previous argument with the other two and they needed a moderator.

They go upstairs, I'm talking with my friends for a little while, the other people in the pool end up going upstairs.

My friends and I were sitting out there for over 20 minutes, just talking and having a good time, but I told them that we should probably go upstairs. We go upstairs, only to find that the 2 bottles of alcohol I brought were placed outside, along with keys. We walked in, and I confront the guys, asking why they would do that. No one knew who did it. I asked where the girl was. She was in the back room, and the leaseholder was trying to get in that room but it was locked, and he was getting pissed. My female friend was upset too, because her stuff was in there. The door finally was open, and come to find out, it was that guy in there. I asked him why he put out my drinks, and he had nothing to say. I asked him and the lease holder to leave the room. Leaseholder did not want to leave the room. I could not figure out were the girl was, and then I finally see her about 30 seconds later behind the lease holder, behind the door. I told the group that they were acting like kids and that my friends and I were going home. The girl apologized profusely, and said she fell asleep. She was not in her swim clothes, but I believed her, since I did not feel I had a reason not to. I was still annoyed at the fact she fell asleep. I told her to call me later, she said she would and apologized again. The girl texted on our way back home, asking me to tell my friends sorry. My friends and I went back to my pool, and stayed there until 7 in the morning.

I wake up this afternoon, try to piece everything together, and realize the guy was not her cousin. It explains why they were so close, why they were behind locked doors, and probably the reason why a couple of people thought they were going to get their asses kicked when everything went down. I wasn't mad at the time, just highly annoyed, but I can see why they would have thought otherwise. I gave myself a v8 smack on the head. The night would have been very different had I known that guy was someone who liked her. I shot the theory over to my friends, and they both texted back in agreement. I had to laugh.

TL; DR. Make sure you know who the people are in the set. If you don't, you could have a whole night change for the worse unexpectedly, due to bad intel.
