I'm going to give you a lot of information so that you can understand some of the subtle aspects of the situation... Sorry!

I was working out in a small gym on the first floor of my apartment. As I'm walking out, a girl on the treadmill drops her Droid that she's using for music. I pick it up and a conversation starts. We have a lot in common, and we make a lot of eye contact, but the conversation just felt a little bit cold to me. I'm not sure why. Very little laughter. Also no kino - she was standing up on the treadmill so it would've felt a little bit unnatural to try to reach up and contact her...

But anyway, I leave with her number and I'm thinking that, though the conversation was a little cold, there's no reason not to take a shot at something more. I've got nothing to lose. Two days later, I text her and invite her to come along with me and some friends to a music show (and to invite friends if she wants). I don't initiate any sort of "What's up" texting (Do you know what I mean? - when you just start a conversation with no particular topic), but I make sure to make my invitation funny/exciting. She's receptive, I say talk to you later in the week.

I texted her again today (three more days have passed) to tell her my precise plans for this weekend and I get a response that I'm certain is foreshadowing of flaking. "Let me talk it over with my friends to see what we want to do." FUCK THAT.

So, Seddit, why was I subject to flaking? Did I wait too long between meeting and the initial text? Should the initial text have been a call? Should there have been more effort at a conversation through texts? Was the situation non-salvageable from the get-go?

PS: At this point, would you cut the cord? Or is there some badass take-it-or-leave-it line I can respond with (I love those!)?
