Question: I have never had a girlfriend, and I am still a virgin. I am always being told that I come off too strong, but I don't see it like that. I see it as me just being a good person. Why would a woman not want to be told they are beautiful?

Me: An excellent question! By challenging the most fundamental notions to your thinking, you are already on your way to mastering this "game."

THE PROBLEM

It does intuitively seem like a woman would want to be told she is beautiful! Indeed, some do. I would not be surprised if every time you said that to a woman, they were pleased and enjoyed the compliment, especially considering our materialist, vain culture in this country that tells women they must be pretty to survive (this is actually an evolved idea, according to Mystery Method, or MM for short).

HOWEVER.

Do you think you are the only person to say this to her? Chances are, if you are attracted to her, she probably has pleasing characteristics - supple breasts and butt, a somewhat hour glass shaped body, and a symmetrical face. In seduction, we subjectively rate women with these qualities using integers, specifically 1-10. 1 is the most hideous girl you have ever seen in your life, but 10s are the best looking ones you'll ever find.

Personally, I find that no girls go above 9 to every man - what seems to be the "icing on the cake" is that she has the qualities outside of her beauty that make her desirable - for me, that's a girl who's into math, programming, and science. Someone who hates math might recognize that she's attractive, but call her a 9 because she doesn't appeal to them like she does to me.

Returning to your question, suppose you walk up to a 9 and after some conversation, you tell her how beautiful she is. If you're lucky, you'll get an "awww, thank you," before the conversation steadily declines to where you get friendzoned and eventually butted out. If you're unlucky, she'll roll her eyes and shoot you down on the spot. It's happened to me.

Why does she do this? Because every other nice guy on the planet has said the same thing to her. Maybe it was cool getting that kind of attention at first for her, but after a while, it gets tedious. Imagine being a movie star and having people recognize you whenever you go out. At first it's fun, right? But then as the cameras follow you around and the squealing girls interrupt you when you're at Barnes and Nobel, you get irritated. Pissed beyond belief. So you realize that telling them, "Hey, fuck off, you assholes," will make them offended and they will leave! You don't know anything about these fans, but they're annoying as fuck, and you don't have the time or patience anymore for their antics. You don't want to hurt their feelings, but...oh well! So you start saying this to your fans. And thus the attention decreases when you go out in public. You're nice to the fans who you want attention from - the ones who buy you stuff, invite you to sweet parties, and make you feel like a king. But the average ones who are just like every other squealing fan? They get the boot.

Women do this with no prejudice. In MM, we refer to it as the "bitch shield." They act rude because they want to be left in peace for the "right kinds" to come and talk to them, not the "average chump."

THE SOLUTION

One day, while being the popular movie star you are, you go out to a coffee shop, dodging the usual losers along the way. When you get there, you're standing in line to order coffee when you suddenly realize something - there's a really interesting looking fellow standing near you. He looks like a director, or maybe an agent. You want to keep your career going, so you want him to notice you. You try to stand closer to him and shoot him glances to get his attention. Eventually he notices you. "Fish in a barrel," you think. But not so fast. As you make eye contact with him, he grins and says:

"You know, you'd probably be easier to recognize if you didn't wear that scowl everywhere."

He chuckles to himself. What a jerkoff! Talking to you like that! You were in Live Free or Terminate: Impossible with a Vengeance! You're a fucking movie star! How dare he speak to you like that! Does he have any idea who you are? You open your mouth to make a response, but just before the words come out, he cuts you off:

"Though, I bet that a facial recognition machine wouldn't be fooled. What coffee did you order?"

Wait, what? He just cut you off. Odd. He seems nice now. Almost like he wants to please you, yet he remains in control. The previous irritation seems to melt away. He makes some talk with you about something in the news - Rombama just won the election. He doesn't say ANYTHING about you being a movie star. He seems like he doesn't care. It feels....refreshing. How nice. Someone who doesn't want to harass you about your obvious career as a movie star! As he grabs his coffee he turns away from you, and over his shoulder, he says, "Well, I'm gonna run....although....I could take a bit longer I guess....but I'm going to sit down. You can join me.....if you don't have anywhere else to be."

Of course you don't. This is a rare opportunity - he looks like he's a producer AND he's not a dick about things. You sit and talk with him. The content of the conversation doesn't really matter - what you recognize is that he's smooth. Chill. He makes little jokes at you, but seems to follow up with interesting topics. He let it slide that he once produced a movie for Harrison Gibson! This guy must be important! Yet for some reason, you find yourself talking more than you usually do. Like you can really trust this guy. Like he's your friend, even though you just met him.

"Well, I've got to go," he says. "though....what are you doing for lunch tomorrow?" "Nothing." "Well.....if you want to discuss the Rombama situation again.....I don't think smoke signals will find me. Or carrier pigeons. Bloody birds - always getting lost." You almost automatically spit off your number. He enters it into his phone and leaves, giving you only a small hand-wave goodbye.

And that, my friend, is how proper pickup works. Take that situation and turn it around. Instead, think of yourself as the producer and the girl as the movie star. You see, by avoiding the fact that the girl is attractive, you present yourself as novel. You aren't doing what EVERY OTHER GUY does. You're being unique - independent.

Furthermore, by starting off with a tiny, almost stinger-like insult, you knock the 9 off her high horse. You quickly follow up with something to change the conversation. Pull it off right and they don't even get mad. You remain in control the entire time. You don't ask "can I sit with you?" You give THEM permission to sit with you. You make little jokes, called "negs" at them, while simultaneously using demonstrations of higher value (DHV) to prove your self worth without bragging. As this process goes on, their impression of themselves drops and yours goes up. When they subconsciously are on the same level as you are, you craftily get them to feel like THEY want to see YOU, not the other way around. The girl gives you HER number, not the other way around. And that's it.

Does this answer your question?

The Mystery Method provides the evolutionary reasons as to why this works. I've just told you how. All of this comes straight from the book. Read it.
