We split up about four years ago. We didn't get along the best for a while, but we've been close friends again for a good three years. We both dated a few other people, and as it turns out, we're both single again. I'm interested in giving it another go, but it's a weird situation to approach.

Normally I'd just ask a girl who I'd just met if she wanted to do _____ with me then watch and judge based on her behaviour whether or not she was interested and if she was kiss her or whatever and go from there. The obvious problem is that (1) if I just ask her to do something with me, it won't be clear that I'm interested, and (2) a lot of the things you'd look for as "IOIs" from another girl will show up around close female friends, since it's as much about how comfortable she is around another person as it is how much interest she has in them.

So what's the best approach? Just ask her if she'd be interested in getting back together? Or trying to treat it like a more standard excursion with a female?
