I read something similar to this called the Monkey Sphere. Basically for primates, the size of your brain determines the size of the group you live in. For humans, it's roughly around that number. Anyone beyond that is just a statistic. Like if a natural disaster happened, it's just a number, but if someone in your 150 was involved, you would actually care.

Yeah, this sounds familiar. I recall reading almost this exact concept in some of the earliest PUA materials like the Venusian Arts Handbook by Mystery, and this is probably the source he got it from. Mystery cites evolutionary anthropology and talks about these relationships as your tribe. I don't recall specifically, but I think he reduces the number of active, key "tribal" relationships at something like 10 people.

Not saying that an idea like this doesn't have some merit, but evolutionary anthropology is kind of hokey.
