Definitely not really a bad thing. I'd say just flirt with them as usual, then before things get too serious just say that you are mainly looking for sex. If you're straight up with them like that it'll be much easier down the line.

I kind of had a similar situation as you when I left for college. To be honest you are going to meet a ton of girls. Every guy in college, for the most part, just wants to have sex with girls. Just be confident and don't worry about the details. If it's just sex you are after you shouldn't have to worry about telling them you are on a break. It's college, and it isn't a bad thing at all to experiment with other girls. My experiences lead me into a new relationship with a girl and it was awesome. Enjoy college and enjoy your life, most of the girls are after the same thing you are.
