Push/pull works with everyone in moderation. The real question, does the why matter?

Why does it rain when it's cloudy and the clouds are dark? (Obviously we know the answer) The fact is, I just need rain to water my crops.

I push a button, my phone turns on. I don't need to know why. I just need to read my texts.

It's simple. Because you're not boring. Think about it.

Guys make the mistake of being too comfortable (pull) and don't tease (push), so they end up being boring. The only thing you shouldn't make a girl feel is being bored.

The only thing you need is Amused Mastery. You're amused with her bullshit and she likes it when you don't take her seriously.

This whole thing spikes up her feefees and it's called the emotional rollercoaster.

If someone were to be giving me wildly varying responses I would think they were a complete lunatic.

The system that regulates motivation, decision making, and impulse control is fairly simple but robust. The brain composed of a lot of these fairly simple mechanisms. It's the connections between those systems that are complex and variable.

The decision making center (the Striatum) is triggered by a rise in dopamine levels from other areas of the brain triggered by something pleasant or desirable, followed by a sudden drop in the dopamine release.

This causes the Striatum to start sifting through various impulses and memories and compare them to input from the amygdala which evaluates risk and negative emotions. The process of recalling and comparing memories and stimulus in this way strengthens them (salience.)

So a boom-then-bust cycle of dopamine triggers fearful, impulsive, and also sentimental behavior.

This is why burn/freeze and hot/cold tactics trigger impulsive withdrawal avoidance, and make you more memorable.

The Striatum is also a key part of addiction, because the boom of the high followed by the bust of the drug withdrawal triggers intense fear/guilt/shame/anxiety, and a consuming impulse to seek out more drug.

Addiction is where a normally healthy impulse to avoid loss of of something pleasant and valuable, becomes short circuited by a substance that has no real benefit and has toxic side effects.

So, women are often described as being "addicted" to Narcissistic Supply, but this is actually an important survival instinct for women and children. Addiction is where some harmful drug or activity is able to co-opt this response.

A lot of people don't like the idea that some of our brain circuitry would be familiar to a first year electrical engineer.
