I like to joke about it by either saying it's tiny or that I have a mangina. Normally it gets girls laughing and wondering about it and at the same time creates sexual tension. Of course they're surprised when I put their hand on it or just flat out whip it out ;).

I've never brought it up and most guys at /r/bdp say they don't either. The common feeling is that you're likely to look like a douche. But if you can pull it off, congrats. They (and I) do wholeheartedly support method B.

I'm curious about your perceptions of dick size though. The average guy is between 5.5 and 6 inches long, and 99% of guys are under 8. So if some guy is "just a couple inches over average" then he's actually quite big. And if we're talking about girth, 1 inch over average puts a guy above the 95th percentile.
