There's the usual tug of war on Seddit which really boils down to semantics.

The "Don't shit where you eat" people.
and the "Why not?" people.

Just a few of the things you need to consider before you will know if it's appropriate. Note: it's not an exhaustive list. There may be other things that I've missed:

How conservative are your supervisors? Or your boss?
How important/prominent is your employer within the field you want to work in?
How good is your game? (Read: if you're still sloppy, the last place you might want to practice game, is your workplace. Because the fall-out could cost you your internship and harm your professional reputation.)
Can you be 100% certain that gaming at work won't affect your performance of piss any co-workers or supervisors off?

Bottom line: In theory, there's nothing wrong with gaming at work, IF you can do so in a way that doesn't screw you over. In practice, a lot off people are truly incapable of mixing business with pleasure without sacrificing one of them in the process. You need to do an inventory of yourself and your workplace to make that determination. No one else here can do this for you.
