So I've been cruising this sub about 2 weeks and have been blown away with the solid advice! Today I got home from work in a fairly foul mood and thought I should give it a try anyways to really challenge myself . I put down a blank piece of paper and wrote 1 through 3. I figured I would go skate down the boardwalk and chat up 3 random people regardless of my mood and regardless of the conversation ... I cruised on a skateboard for about 5 minutes down the board walk and made eye contact with cute girls as I flew by them... It was like ripping off a bandaid! I got a little further and some people were playing horseshoes about 20 of them so I stopped and asked a decent looking 30 year old or so what it was all about and if it were some secret club or something because there were so many of them. She was very warm and said the horseshoe Club has been going on for 20 years to which I replied the secret is out! We chat for a bit then I cruise along. Good start! I stopped for a break and talked to an old man walking a cool looking dog, nothing special.. Cruised on to the volleyball courts and saw some lanky dude looking like he wanted to play sitting and watching so I asked him if these were all pick up games and he said yeah. He was from Germany on vacation and fairly shy so this was pretty easy and refreshing... We cruised over to a court where two guys were leaving and said the court was ours. We said around for 2 minutes n three chicks walked over with a ball. I asked if they wanted to play 2 on 2 they said they had a forth coming in a bit but would play a quick game. these chicks were total b****** !super cold and too cool to play us because they could tell we don't play and they certainly go there a lot. Long story short they are very annoyed during the game and me and my new found German friend actually scraped together a win! They were pretending like they were trying but I could tell they were pissed and actually were trying so the win felt pretty good! They said good game didn't offer to even shake hands... f****** Valley Girls. Anyways it actually felt very good to put myself out there get in front of some girls and be myself regardless of the outcome! On my way home I passed a cute girl running in a sombrero! I yelled nice hat as I rolled by and she gave me a thumbs up. I got about 200 yards away when I realized that there was just a chick running in a sombrero and that's pretty f****** cool. I thought about going back to talk to her and then I didn't... And then I thought I'm going to get in my house n regret not talking to her! So I turned the board around and skated after her. As I rolled up I said ' you must be from Mexico!' ( clearly Caucasian) she laughed a bit and said no it's my 25th birthday and I'm running 250 miles for a fundraiser. I said something about how 25 is a tough one, she said we're being filmed by the dude standing in red in front of us. I waved as we went by. She said something else then put her headphones back in. I got the memo and said have a nice day and cruised along. Talked to several other people on my way home but nothing noteworthy. A few lessons I learned!

1.) Write down a small goal each day ! By writing down 1 through 3 on a piece of paper I would have been very disappointed in myself coming home and leaving that thing blank. It got me talking to people, it got me to ask that guy to play some volleyball, it got me in front of some cute girls even though they were b****** , and most importantly I approached a girl I thought was cute who was on her own with confidence after those first three encounters!

2.) getting rejected doesn't really hurt that bad as long as you know it's part of the process and happens to everybody! Those chicks really sucked from the get go so it was pretty easy to brush their passiveness off.

3.) use regret as fuel! I've seen this example on here a lot and when I encountered someone I really wanted to get to know, the girl in the sombrero, I pictured how pissed off I would be when I got home and did not try to talk to her... It only took me 5 seconds to turn around and go for an approach... Even though she wasn't into it I can tell you I feel 100 times better giving it a shot and getting shot down then I would sitting here now thinking about it!
