Well I have been lurking on this subreddit for some time now and today I had the chance to put the material I read into practice. I went out with two friends a guy and a girl and went to this pub where there are lots of potential girls. I decided not to drink because drinking wasn't helping me because every time I approached a girl drunk I would say something completely stupid.

So here I was at a pub with some good music being played and I started dancing as I love dancing and while I felt a little bit awkward dancing without being a little tipsy I stuck at it. After a while I saw two girls dancing alone and decided to approach them. The first thing I did was smile at the two of them and started dancing near them. One of the girls started smiling at me and started to dance in my direction, at that moment I was a little dumbfounded at what to do but after a moment she asked me if I had a cigarette for her friend and explained to me that she doesn't smoke, I replied sorry I don't smoke and after a while she got a cigarette from another guy and started smoking.

As soon as she started smoking I saw this as a great chance to start a small conversation with her so I touched her shoulder and told her didn't you just told me that you don't smoke and smiled she replied that she smokes sometimes. I continued dancing with my friends and after a little I touched her shoulder again and told her can you stop smoking because I don't like the smell of cigarettes and she said well it's almost finished now and I replied well finish this one and stop. At that moment she threw the cigarette on the floor immediately and I took this as a positive sign. My mind was telling me that the final step was to ask her for her number and I decided that If I don't do it I'm going to be pretty disappointing with myself afterwards and touched her shoulder again and told her look you seem to be an interesting girl give me your number so I can text you.

I decided to try and be a little bit authoritative in my tone and it wasn't a question but a request, I wasn't sure how it would go but she replied I don't give number to strangers and at that moment I replied we can always get to know each other and she nodded and told me her name and I told her mine and we shook hands and told me nice to meet you then I proceeded to hug her and kiss her cheeks. She then said nice to meet you again and told her now don't start repeating words and she started laughing. She then gave me her number and I went away to continue dancing with my friends.

This was my first time trying and I am pretty proud with the way it ended. I know there will be times when I won't be successful but this has given me a great confidence boost to continue trying and working hard. Thanks guys if you have any suggestion I would appreciate them.
