keep talking. be really friendly, gentle even. do not neg. when you ask questions and they don't open up or ask you back, but you feel they're keen, just answer the question you asked yourself and segue to the next topic. she will open up eventually.

^ this absolutely, vary the conversation until you discover something she is truly interested in and discuss it, if you can find common ground you are golden. You seem shy yourself, which can be endearing and taken hand in hand with mystery, however, it is important to demonstrate self confidence, shy girls tend to struggle with their shy quiet nature on some level and it is unlikely they will date someone they view as meeker than themselves. Not to say that you should become a hardcore alpha by any means, but that there is a lot to be said for knowing yourself and being at ease with who you are as a person. Physical contact should not be out of the question either, just toned down to suit the nature of the girl you are pursuing, examples could be sitting close enough to brush knees, or casually touch her hand while discussing something. Also, when dealing with shy girls it is unlikely they will initiate a first date or even a second, so be prepared for that.
