'There's nothing wrong with being who you are, but at the same time you have to exhibit a level of pride about yourself. And for a long time now I've wondered how to convey this to women without talking directly about it. Fast foward to today, and I'm sitting here thinking about how I need to get my hair cut. I thought, "I'll just get the usual" and then it hit me that this is where the problem starts. I'm more vanilla than homemade ice cream!

I think how you look is important on two levels

1) It shows you know how to put forth effort into looking good. Girls spend a lot of time looking good and although most women will admit they don't want their guy to spend as much time in the bathroom as them, they mostly like a guy who can pick out outfits that fit and match. A good way to do this IMO is dress one step above everyone else. At a house party? Wear a blazer. Going to a bar? Like Barney Stinson says, "Suit up!"

2) It will help her feel like she knows you. Lets say she likes nerdy guys. Well if you come over wearing a shirt that says "There's no place like 127.0.0.1," she'll probably figure out, "Hey he's kind of nerdy, too!" If you feel pretty normal and are more of a "guy next door," classic white-collar guy, she'll like the idea you're wearing that button down shirt with a blazer, some nice pants and loafers. If you're into punk, wearing that leather jacket and Misfits shirt will help her feel like you have something in common. If you're into indie stuff, go ahead and introduce some hipster tones into your threads. If you don't know what your style is, that's pretty normal. Just pay attention to guys who you think look nice and go, "What is he wearing?" It's messed up but we all stereotype so if you can fit the stereotype of a type of guy she likes you'll get some serious brownie points. Just remember step one, TRY and put forth some noticeable effort into your style and make it clear you knew what you were doing when you put it on. Also make sure it's you and now what you think women will like. Doing that will surely drive a man insane.

So that's my big epiphany. It was harder to explain than I thought, but I seriously think this is a great way to increase success. Just look like you tried a little bit to look good, and have the confidence to create an idea of who you are through your hair and clothing. If you don't put anything in your hair and only wear a t-shirt with jeans every day it's going to come across as boring and uninspired which aren't exactly exciting attributes for a man to have. But if you walk in wearing something that not everyone would wear and it fits who you are, then you are one step ahead of everyone else without even introducing yourself.
