It is a retail shop in a market, her mom owns it.

I met her a couple months ago during a business trip, we become friends then I left the country. Now apparently my company is sending me on another business trip to the same country in December. I thought maybe I will surprise her (?)

I heard a lot of bad things about showing up unannounced, but those cases are their homes. I had that happened to me once and it was fairly awkward and weird. Like home is a place where you expect no one to show up. But at a shop, it is THE place where you expect people, probably just not the ones you know, but that's the point (surprise). Plus her mom owns the place, it won't create tension between her and the boss (her mom). And I don't think I will have time to stay for long at the shop, just wanted to dropped by and let her know I am in town.

Oh BTW we stopped talking after I left the first time around, is that an implied end of an friendship?
