Tips for online dating?

Today I deleted my online dating profiles.

I was on POF and OKC and seeing minimal results. A few conversations, two dates. Honestly I saw it as a tool to work on conversational skills more than anything, but I was hoping to get more dates for that than I did.

I "gave up" and deleted my profiles after seeing this result of an online dating experiment. Even if you're unreasonably attractive and have an interesting profile, there's a huge chance you're going to just plain get drowned out.

This isn't to say don't try! Definitely give it a shot, but expect some rejection without so much as a profile visit, that's just the nature of this beast.

As for your actual questions.. The best advice I've seen about online dating profiles is to read your own profile at least once a day and make a change. You'll learn to filter out anything you previously wrote that doesn't fit or give off the right vibe. Also, turn things that would normally be a bit mundane/common more interesting. The example I followed was instead of saying "I like reading", say "I can't stand having partially filled book cases". It serves to make you a little bit different because most people just blatantly list their interests.

For your pictures, I would pick out 3, maybe 4. Main picture should be a nice headshot, particularly showing your good side. Second picture a full body shot (or close to it) in nice clothes. Suit picture from some classy event is idea for this, group shots work too. Other one or two pictures should be of you having fun, and they show off good features.

For messaging, I saw the best results when opening with a SPECIFIC compliment, then asking something about a shared interest. Comment on something that really sticks out in their pictures, because that's probably the reason they chose that picture. One of the last girls I messaged had a picture with some impressive zombie makeup, so I asked how hard it was to do and then asked what zombie movies/shows she liked.

You know what I would suggest you to do? Don't loose hope and a very good tip: try other sites. I've been through the same issue before and almost like wanna quit online dating. I've never been lucky with other sites before but, I finally did with this one www.getlove4u.net/. I'm speaking through experience so, why not jump in and try your luck eh! :D

I don't have much experience with online dating but I would assume that the vast majority of guys have profiles that sound the same. So it wouldn't be too hard to set yourself apart.

You'll want to make yourself sound like an interesting person but who is also positive and independent. Avoid using language that makes you seem uncertain or doubtful of yourself. You should also make it sound like you aren't taking the whole online dating thing too seriously, although don't come off as you're just trying to get laid. Have good, clear pictures of yourself as well.

Have you tried /r/okcupid? They probably have a lot more experience and seem to critique each others' profiles often.
