Hello everyone.
Today I realized how important first impression is (by observing my own thoughts).
So, I walked into the classroom today (college) and noticed a female friend sitting. We met a year ago but it didn't go really well, and, honestly... it was all my fault. She is a pretty cool girl, but I was very asocial and closed up guy back then. She isn't, and her outgoing-ness with me just didn't feel good and so I disliked her, even though there's nothing wrong with her. Anyway, my automatic thought process immediately went off: "meh, I don't like her, I will just sit on the other side of the room and hope I won't have to talk with her".
(then, I ignored this thought and found a good place, because I have learned to ignore my own brain's bullshit.)
But what sparked my interest is that, even though I didn't know this girl at all that well, a year and a half (!) later, that first impression is still making me see her with a negative connotation. And even though I have changed, and am not that teenage awkward silent guy anymore, I still feel negative around her.
OK, so what does this have to do with seddit?
Your image in the eyes of other people will be skewered by their own mental state (context). This means that approaching a girl and being blown off can sometimes mean she has some other stuff going on and it simply isn't the right timing.
One more thing I wanna mention. Those first few minutes leave a very lasting impression. This is when we categorize people. It's how our brain works. And, for example if you have fallen in love with a girl but she only sees you as a friend, chances are her perception of you has been wrong since the beginning. The thing is that her initial impression can be skewered. That's why you don't put all your eggs in one basket... you don't control everything.
tldr: bad english, don't read it.
there doesn't seem to be anything here
