Okay so I've always had trouble with the phase between getting the number and going on the first date. Usually I will have made the date plans, but will get flaked on by he girl, I am pretty young, so I guess all these 19-20 year olds love flaking. What I've found out that seems to work pretty well, is asking them to make very simple, yet thought provoking, fun choices.
Example: the date has been set for Saturday, let's say it's Tuesday and it's been 24 hours since we set the date.
"City or country?" I open with this to not only help me with choosing the date location and vibe, but also to learn a little about the girl, without asking questions that are too specific. This is meant to be fun and light hearted, let her interpret it how she wants.
Now it's another 24 hours from that last text, but I still want to keep myself fresh in her mind, but also make her realize I'm fun and worldly. "Base jumping in Australia, back packing in New Zealand, exploring ancient ruins in SA, clubbing in Prague or Shopping in Paris." Something along those lines. They usually LOVE answering this question and I get responses that are much longer than I generally get out of girls over texting. I usually won't respond after they do, or I'll keep the response very limited and sometimes I'll drop something like, "Yeah Australia was amazing." This is all primer for the types of things I want to be talking about on the date. This way I don't go too in depth, but the questions I ask won't be a total surprise and might lead to more in depth conversations since she's had time to let these questions sink.
"Candles or LEDs" "Coffee or tea" "Doctors or professional athletes (usually pair this with, what do you think takes more dedication)" All those questions would be asked withing 24-72 hours of each other depending on how she answers. Honestly at this point my material starts to fall off because this is relatively new. The point is to ask questions that force her to make choices, attach generally positive emotions to you, get her mind off this like her day or the weather, etc... Feed you material to expand on and use later on and keep you fresh on her mind, but not seem like you are begging for her attention. I'll also throw lots of "unintentional" cliff hangers into my responses, "Back packing is great and now that I know to stay clear of rattle snakes, it's even better." One girl I got onto a date literally told me she didn't even know how I got her onto the date, she said she felt like she literally had no choice, because she was so curious. "I never do stuff like this, I always date guys I'm at least familiar with." Btw, when I number close, it's generally with little to no conversation, I generally approach in coffee places, froyo, whole foods, places that are just sort of on my list of things to do. So I make a joke, flirt, neg, flirt, ask for their number and if they'd like to join me for whatever.
Any opinions, suggestions, warnings?
I'll be posting some FRs if all goes well on these upcoming dates.
