Obviously one of the big fears we all have is the fear of judgement. We worry about how new people are going to react to us, what they might say to us, and how they might feel about us. This can be easy enough to overcome, simply by being the best man you can be, knowing that you are enough and that anybody who judges you incorrectly simply didn’t get to know the real you. But also, there’s another fear: The fear of investing ourselves and getting nothing in return.

Now, it’s understandable that we take extra care when choosing where to spend our money, because it’s something that we only have a finite resource of. But when we’re in the position of meeting new people, we are investing something of which we have complete abundance, an unlimited and inexhaustible supply: Ourselves.

As long as we are alive, and as long as we can physically communicate with others, we will always have an abundance of ourselves. Therefore, surely it’s ok to simply put ourselves out there, give our true authentic selves unconditionally, and not feel a sense of loss or suffering if nothing comes in return?
