She could also be playing her own games. She could actually have no intention of getting rid of the bf, but she will downplay his existence to either keep you around as a side guy, or maybe just to string you along. You at some point have to do some recon and figure out whether it was a serious situation(probably more likely you're not getting anywhere with this one or you're a side piece), or something really short(she could just have a revolving door of guys she jumps into situations with prematurely).
