I commute. And so sometimes layovers happen. I love the word, but hate the concept of just waiting around. So I began texting, and at some point I got bored. I felt wound up and began looking around, scanning the food court. I spot a woman, alone, in the same situation too. I hesitate for a while, look at my phone, random mindless acts. I buckle down and decide to go over.

"How's it going?"

"Good"

"How's your layover?" – I love saying 'layover'

"Good"

We go on to talk about personalities, sports, Europe, a play, school, and lots of stuff.

As we part ways, I hesitate to number close, but I successfully do.

"Just so you know, I am married"

Whoops. Still, the way I see it is that people are people. They have thoughts, words, fantasies, and want to be seduced. I deleted her number and moved on.

Why? I was validated and probably should have been a bit bold. But, the excitement of doing something as crazy as that is fascinating. Either way, I got over my nerves and dove in.

Takeaway: If you're waiting around for a long time, open up and talk to someone nearby. If they're unreceptive, screw'em. I find it interesting to open people with books or quirky toys and whatnot. Either way, people are bored and looking to pass time. Offer some value and be fun!
