So me and some male friends went to a club tonight and we ordered drinks and found a table. We sat down for the beginning of the night and I tried my best to be the centre of the group, creating conversation, making jokes, making sure everyones drinks were topped up, etc. just generally trying to genuinely have a great time and enjoy myself!

We then went to dance in a group of 3 and I tried to dance near groups of girls and grab their attention by just enjoying myself and being visibly happy and into the music - dancing and singing. All to no avail.

So I've been reading up on approaches and finally summed up the courage to break from the damce floor group and find a girl to approach. Found a girl and caught her attention and we had a brief talk about her dress and where she got it from, no further than that. I shook her hand then carried on and held it as I told her that it was nice meeting her. I should've asked for her name and escalated from there but I didnt in the moment.

I generally dont like picking up in clubs because the competition is astronomical.

My question is, am I doing something wrong? Any tips to picking up girls in the club? Which is the "right" or most effective way?
