Just thought I'd give you guys who tend to have very anxious or depressive thought loops some insight with a recent anecdote:

Long story short, just today, approached a girl in the grocery store, vibe a bit after a direct open, escalate the interaction some with a touch on the small of her back and qualifying her, she shies away and says she has a boyfriend, shrug, go find another girl.

Then my mind start getting into this toxic thought loop of "What do girls think of when you approach them?" and what all the other people think in the venues. And basically my self esteem starts taking a hit out of no where, so I sit outside the parking lot to where I'm getting dinner, and the thought loop keeps going. Eventually after a few minutes I get out of my car, walk in, some cute girls in front of me, but inside of the thought loop, my mind thinks they're creeped out by me. So I just sort of stare over everyone and try to stay present, but aloof.

Anyways, get up to the counter, guy I know from a party talks to me a little, I encourage him to go chase his dreams since he opened up to me. At this point I'm starting to get more present to the moment, vibe with the other worker serving me, and then when I check out the guy and I banter some. Then a girl who works there that's decently cute pokes me after all of it and waves, smiling. I flirt with her a tad, chase framing "Hey, you wore your belt again! You want another compliment?" with a knowing smile, and she giggles and runs off.

Notice the scenarios my mind was playing out were all bullshit, and I felt as though the girls in front of me were watching me kill it socially since they were eating there. Yeah, the people there are paid to be friendly, I work as a barista, I get the whole spiel - but the average customer doesn't strike up those conversations or have some cute girl who's talked with you before poke you and giggle after you flirt with her.

Hope it helped some of you guys, as I'm sure other people have the same problems but not as much humility to admit it.
