New to dorm life. Is it cool to knock on doors and visit girls. If so, what should I do after?

How about you meet them more... normally? If you're in a dorm there's definitely some spots around where people hang out. Go there and talk to people

IMO you're gonna look like a fucking weirdo just showing up at their door and ask them to watch a movie. what the fuck. lol.

Yeah the key here is to NOT just knock on the doors of only the cutest girls. Instantly, everyone that sees you doing this knows for sure you're just a creeper who only wants to get laid and doesn't actually care about friendship. Major turn off for everybody there.

If you're going to knock on a lot of doors to introduce yourself to people, do it to everyone. This means that, on top of gauging romantic chemistry with cute girls, you are also making friends. This is to your advantage because then you're not some weird loner around campus. People are less inclined to worry about the potential rapist/murderer/general creep factor of a stranger if they see other people "vouching" for their character by being friends with them.

This applies doubly to men that a woman encounters. A woman, who is more likely to be less confident in her abilities to defend herself than a man, needs to be a LOT more socially selective than some big muscular dude. That dude does not need to worry about being raped and murdered as much, since such a large proportion of the population is smaller than him. She does. So the key to having positive interaction with women you do not know is really to exhibit traits that skew your potential personality towards NOT-A-RAPIST/MURDERER. Have friends, take care of your hygiene and appearance, show you like people, show you're not fixating on only her (laser focus is hella creepy, always make sure whatever you're inviting a girl to has OTHER WOMEN THERE), etc.

This is what I did my first week in college.

Go to every door on my floor during a down time between classes. Introduce self, hand them my card, tell them I've got mario kart and beers in my dorm room, tell them to come by.

Boom. Instant celebrity.

You could also just leave your door open a bit when you're home. It shows you're looking for some type of social contact and although you don't know who might come knocking, it's always good to know people. The trend might catch on and other people may start doing the same thing, at which point it's become a socially acceptable thing to visit other rooms. I'm no expert, but this helped me freshman year.

Colleges are really cracking down on rape and rapist behavior. I'm not saying you did/are doing either but be careful on your approach on campus.

Being wierd ----> Rumors about you ----> Rape charges (Expulsion)

It's 2015 and although it's not impossible to run game the margin for error has greatly diminished.
