First off, sorry to hear about your break up OP.

That being said, I think that the phrase "let sleeping dogs lie" is the most relevant. You got an answer from Ashley already that's pretty clear: she's not interested. It's good that you realize this is selfish on your part so you should take the next constructive step towards dealing with the breakup which is moving on.

I think you deserve a mourning period, even a very short one. Don't let yourself get bogged down. Ultimately, though, it sounds like you might just need a rebound. Find someone new, fun, interesting and different. It's tough now but things'll get better.
