Frat parties help?

As a senior in a fraternity on a campus with a major Greek presence, I will try to give you some advice from my personal experience. It sounds like you are a freshman and are not a brother in the fraternity so you are already at a disadvantage. Girls that go to fraternity parties usually have friends in the fraternity, which is why the girls were invited the party in the first place. If they don't know you and you try to approach without saying a word, it'll usually freak some girls out.

Parties are different than bars or clubs. Eye contact and smiling won't usually be good enough. Maybe some light hearted conversation along with some shots will help. My fraternity doesn't even let non brothers into the party unless they are visiting a brother from another school so be careful when approaching girls you don't know, especially with brothers around. They may just end up kicking you out if you're not careful.

But I guess if you just want to dance, find a girl by where the shots are and ask her to take a shot with you. As you take a few shots, ask for her name and just let the conversation flow naturally. Stay upbeat and ask to accompany you to the dance floor after the shots. This I think is way easier than just walking up to a girl at a party and trying to dance with her. It usually doesn't work like that.

Good luck man, and if you are interested in pledging a fraternity, do it. It was easily the best decision I have made in college.
