Summary: How do you maintain rapport during a long time gap between getting a girls number and potentially meeting her again.

The PUA/dating material I've read/watched don't usually mention texting. If they do, they say texting is about arranging to meet only.

It seems the sentiment is often that you can't spark things over text, so let's not waste time talking about it. But these days with texting, instant messaging and social media, it seems connecting with someone in person isn't the be all and end all it probably used to be.

Also there's what I see as a key difference between men and women's mindsets to contend with. A man can usually remember that a girl is hot, cool and attractive, and pick up that memory whenever he wants, so he's excited to continue where he left off with her. Whereas with a woman, you need to flick a bunch of switches to arouse her interest again, or keep the interest piqued until you can ask her for a drink. Which is where the challenge lies.

This situation has recurred for me time after time;

I get a girls number on a night out. I have already attempted to arrange something with her there and then. But she said she can't make the following week as she'll be away. So I've got a long wait of at least a week, sometimes more.

Next day I text her, to try to continue the rapport we had when we met. But over text it isn't the same, and the conversation often goes flat. When she's back, ask her for that drink, but so much time has passed, the rapport has long gone, and she doesn't reply or makes excuses.

I don't have any issues building rapport in person. When I meet a girl, I feel the attraction is mutual, so I don't think lack of initial attraction is the problem. This is also evident by the fact that I have more success with women who I see regularly.

But when we exchange texts I can almost feel her attraction seep away as the days pass. Keeping rapport going to bridge the time gap between meeting her initially, getting her number and meeting again for a first date is key for me. And/or sparking things again after a text conversation has died.

Does anyone have any tips or links to look into?
