Fuck waiting to become a better man. Start lifting and making lifestyle changes now, while you're in a depression, or else it will linger. I was depressed once, and you literally have to crawl and scrap your way out of the hole. Waiting to "make a resurgence" will never work out, as it will always seem to be on the horizon. Start right now. Go out of your comfort zone, lift, and meet new people. By the time she wants you again, it will be too late for her, as you'll be miles ahead.

I recently posted this to /r/stopdrinking, but look into the benefits of cold showers. Research says they can help battle depression and anxiety among other things. I've been doing it for a week now and my relationships at work have grown tremendously. The YouTube channel "the art of manliness" has a great, 10min or so video on it as well as dating and relationship advise.
