I have the same feeling. Sometimes a friend tells me, dude that girl was totally checking you out. But i really don't realise it. I am painfully shy though.

It's partly in your head and also partly real. Some girl here recently explained why you are having this feeling.

Two reasons:

girls check you out like a ninja (i.e. you simply won't notice most of the time)
girls hints are usually very subtle
even when they feel attracted, they don't want to come off as "easy"

Here's a simple practical fix to get this out of your head: go outside and sit by a bus stop. Wait for the bus, but don't get on. Notice how as soon as the doors close all eyes are suddenly on you. Why? Because all girls sitting inside feel totally safe to check you out without immediate consequences. Same thing goes for girls on an escalator coming out of an underground station. In fact you will get totally stared at.

Same thing when you're walking around with a female friend by your side (= she feels less threatened, because you're in female company). Same thing when a girl is walking around with her boyfriend (= everyone can see that I'm taken and won't approach me). Also notice how girls use mirrors and reflections to check you out. Or suddenly stop using their mobile phones.

A lot of girls don't look at you, for sheer preservation.

Imagine the life of a girl who's anything from a 5/10 up. Girls, that many in this sub wouldn't even want to approach get cat called and hit on ALL the time.

To them, making eye contact with a guy is a flat out invitation to be approached.

That's why YOU need to command attention.
