If you want to be with the person romantically, you have one of two choices. 1. Ask her out and risk her saying no and maybe ruining what you have, also there is a chance this will work and you will be happy. 2. Don't say a word, live your life always wanting her, always wanting more, watching from a distance as she find other lovers. Always being a friend but never getting what you truly want.
The friend zone does not exist unless you keep yourself there, if you like someone, there is always a chance that you may ruin your friendship, but friendship isn't what you truly want.
It may be a case of you either being with her or never speaking again, but that is the reality of life. If you make your intentions known and you fail then you may regret it for a while, but there are always other people.
