Background

Im a 18 year old boy in higschool. Im very prone to social anxiety, shyness and lately: depression. For weeks I hated school and just wanted to play video games or nap. Then something clicked and I decided to change on Sunday.

Monday I usually wake up late to school, then rush to school with no preparation, not even showering or washing tooth.

That day I woke up early and very carefully loaded my backpack, paid great attention to grooming and hygine (I looked spotless). I took time to eat, plan my day, and study a bit too.

In school I noticed that I had zero anxiety, when I looked in the mirror I wasnt disgusted, I went on easily with school, had the rush even in the last class, I was careless, confident and focused!

Tuesday and Wednesday

Those days for some reason I got depressed and again I rushed to school, I did not care about myself, did not study, had naps and procrastinated. Tired, High anxiety, day was slow and I literally hated everything.

Today, Thursday

I learned from my faults and in the morning I took my time and studied, planned my day.

(Studying is also important I think, because its my duty, it fills your mind with new, interesting information instead of mindless procrastination, napping, which will make you more depressed and anxious in the long run.)

Today I feel great! I again feel very great, there is no anxiety, I got the rush, and it is easier to use knowledge learnt here, for example looking people in the eye - which for my shy self was impossible.

The point

It might be, that this was a placebo effect... But if you give effort to yourself you might as well believe that you're something important!
