Almost. But not quite. Gushing all over a girl you don't really know, is unattractive, yes. Giving up your identity, ambitions, or abandoning the pursuit of your own self-interests completely, is unattractive.

Opening up, all by itself, is a different thing. That sort of thing, vulnerability, etc, is part of a serious relationship. A healthy one, anyway.

If you don't open up, or she doesn't, that's going to be trouble down the line.

If someone responds poorly to another person opening up, then they either weren't looking for something serious, or the one opening up was mixing in something like losing their identity, etc.

What do you want? Something serious or something casual?

..... the only time opening up works is if she is giving last minute resistance for sex but other than that, I can't think of anything else.

This is a terrible idea. Not that you're exactly appearing to recommend this. But if one does this, one is promising something that one doesn't necessarily want to deliver on. Emotional connection.
