One thing about seddit I always disagree with are shit like "advice how to smile."

Dude, you know how to smile. You've been smiling your whole life. Just smile like you're happy and having a good time.

If you try to teach yourself every aspect of your body language and movements, your head will be full of too much information and you will suffer paralysis by analysis.

Also, OP, you are currently undergoing the seddit death spiral:

Approach rarely
Get rejected when you do approach
Obsess over your rejections.
Come on seddit and make a new thread about it every day.

Smiling at her until she looks would be creepy as fuck

From my experience she makes eye contact then smiles or as soon as I get eye contact I smile

You mean in general or just when looking on a train?

Personally, on trains I just went for it regardless. If I saw a girl I like and wanted to talk to her, I'd just sit (or stand near her) and a few seconds in ask about something she's doing. Easy target is her Smartphone. If she's texting, I'd make fun that she is a spy and has access to sattelites (there's no service in the subway). Playing a game, I'd say she's only half way trying. Music? Ask about what she's listening to. It's just a way to get a conversation going. Most of them won't go anywhere, anyway. So the more people you go for, the more chances of hitting it off with someone cool.

You don't HAVE to smile. There's no rule about smiling to a girl before talking to her. It should be natural. Smile if she said something funny, or you got a joke/snarky comment you just have to let out.

someone at a saturday sarge once.. think the guy was a coach or something.. told me to think about their eye colour when you make eye contact. and smile straight away.

Start off just giving a small smile to anyone you make eye contact with in public. Random person you are walking pass, give them a little smile at eye contact and keep on walking. Lining up at a checkout and the person in front of you turns around? Little smile. It'll just become a reflex and you won't need to think about it

To add to what Woujo said, before you go out in public, pump yourself up as best you can. Watch something funny. Listen to something that makes you laugh. SOMETHING. Anything, to elevate you to a mindset where you're looking for the ridiculous and the odd, when you walk out the door.

Life is strange and funny, and the sooner you accept that, the easier it is to laugh at it all.

And smile.
