One of the revelations that have come upon me during thinking on why exactly do I find some of existing cultural aspects extremely unpleasant to me, was that in our society it has quietly became acceptable and even desired to ostracize male sexuality, masking is with alleged de-ostracization of the female sexuality.
During a depressing search with Google and it's classic results that are completely opposite to the request, I've accidently stumbled into this article dated February 2022. It's quite vague and therefore begs for a question such as "what are you even talking about bro", but things mentioned there actually do have a lot of sense.
If I was to describe the current situation on female/male sexuality in Western culture (as I can't say anything for Eastern), here is the outline: female sexuality is being cherished and cultivated using various media, and male sexuality is being put aside and repressed using, again, various media. While Google still tries to convince you that it is, obviously, female sexual freedom still gets stoned (how DARE you think that it's not?), we can see, for instance, female reproductive imagery in art and fashion, talks about magic of orgasm and masturbation for women, female sexual "liberation" trough symbolism of "female rage", witchcraft, etc. Female sexuality and body is seen as a great mystery and enigma, diabolic and angelic. We all know what men get as a counterpart. It's... Well, memes. And some biased articles written by ignorant jerks who think that they want to appeal to anti-male sentiment, including such terms as "male gaze" and "rape culture".
Now, by male sexuality I mean a number of things mostly tied to self-projection of erotic side of the character on men's own bodies and experiences. For some reason, it seems only acceptable among gays, but, imagine that, you don't have to be gay to see that there is something deeply wrong about how we treat men and boys. If you are a girl, you should keep your genitals clean all the time, because that how it is supposed to be, but if you are a guy, you shake off drips of urine from your penis and hide it back into your pants - not aware of the fact that most of it stays on your penis if you don't wipe it, but why do you care, bro? My version is that one of the reasons for this situation is lack of proper sexual education for boys - made by men, for men (words that many of said ignorant jerks are terrified of). Another - is lack of spaces, where (straight) men can discuss their thoughts on sexual topics. This is, in it's own right, caused by various types of silent-treating and ridiculing men use on each other to just avoid talking about it - which stems from insecurities created by this bad sexual education. Yet another thing is external - cultural sanctifying of female body and sexuality, that, sometimes directly, implies the diminishing of male body and sexuality. This is well studied in "Sanctifying misandry" by Paul Nathanson and Katherine K. Young. There are other aspects that can be brought up, too, mostly as branches of these three.
So, one of the biggest problems we have is that Western society have cultivated and keeps cultivating insecurities in men - insecurities that lead to lack of sense of physical self-worth, depression and coping trough memes that made fun on men who try to be vocal about this issue.
But what keeps being pushed it that women have it worse because beauty standards, misogyny, envy and male gaze. The truth is that men go through all of this too - exept without being celebrated and "you go, queen"-ed in almost every single article and comment section.
