Do not try to walk up to a girl and kiss her. That's bullshit advice and a great way to get hit.

Most of these tips are very generic and anecdotal. Something a guy can conjure up in his parents' basement in a weekend after reading a bunch of pick up books.

My 0.02 is to stop with the positive thinking and prepare for the worst. That way any motivation you gained won't be lost.

For example, when I worked in telemarketing, I didn't kid myself with motivational shit like I'll be received well or "I'm such a great guy, they will want to talk to me", like you mentioned above. Doing so is just setting myself up for failure and disappointment.

Instead, I started with the mindset that I'm not there to collect successes, I'm there to collect failure. I knew being rejected was the norm and any success would be a miracle, so I wouldn't hope for the miracle, but stick to the norm instead. That being said, I set myself a goal that I will not stop until I collected 40 rejections in one day. That way, either they told me to go jump off a cliff or patiently spent 30 minutes listen to my pitch, I won't ever be disappointed and quit after 2 weeks or so. I'm there to collect the rejection, remember? It's a mindset that encourages action. No matter if you sold something or not, you already made progress just by acting.

Applying the same principle to approaching women has served me well over the years.
