When a girl takes that long (at least where I live, different places have different customs), it usually means she's not interested. If a girl is interested in you and you have a snap streak with her, she'll usually answer pretty quickly. She might leave you on read/open for a few minutes occasionally because if she likes you she doesn't want to come off as needy or desperate. If she leaves you open for hours at a time and rarely replies to your messages or snaps bearing an uninterested or short tone, it's most likely going to be a dead end for you.

Don't text straight away. I usually wait a couple minutes at least, and sometimes reply immediately.

Here's a tip to see what somebody texts without it saying opened on there end:

Tap their name on conversations, then quickly tap again as the conversation slides onto the screen from the left (about the same rate as a doubleclick on a mouse)
Slide it over to the right using your finger, and read it.
When you're done reading it, slide it back. Simply letting go will make it say opened.

Send them things that aren't directly about them or directed to them, but also aren't on your story. This works great if you're talking to a bunch of girls at once, you can just send it out to all of them and they all think it's just for them.

Encouragement. This applies to real life too obviously, but here's a specific way to use it on Snapchat: If they say something like "love this new candle i got" on their story, reply to it just like "thats fuckin cool" or whatever. She put it online for the world to see, she wants it fuckin' appreciated. Give her genuine "that's cool" stuff. Then don't try and continue the conversation from there, unless they do. Do that a couple times, let you both dip your feet in the water. Then after a couple times, try and start a full blown conversation.

One way I start conversation with this (after a couple times of just quick story replies) is like so

story: wow i just got this cool new candle
me: thats a dopeass candle
her: right
me: looks a lot better than the shit you find at fuckin kmart or somethin, good choice
her: haha yeah kmart is bad
me: blablabla kmart fljaksdfjslkf

(weird fake convo but you should get the picture)

Try and match her personality a LITTLE bit. I don't mean chameleon her, I don't mean if she says "i love harry potter" be like "WOW I LOVE HARRY POTTER TOO!" I mean just like... match it slightly. It's such a subtle thing that varies from girl to girl it's hard to specifically how to say it, but once you know how to do it, it's easy.

A huge thing I recommend is to take advantage of the face swap filter. In particularly I use it to impersonate celebrities and make girls laugh and even though it didn't get me a girl, my use of snapchat literally moved me from an old acquaintance she wasn't actually seeing in real life, into a friend where pure snapchat fun escalated into Facebook messaging and positive vibes.

I've learned replies back are not necessarily a barometer of how much they enjoy what you send, but if you send them a text or something that prompts a reply and they sit on it for awhile, just move on.

Also take advantage of the ability to see their snapchat score. When you're waiting around anxious to know if they're too busy to snap you back, it can tell you if they've been snapping it up with other people.
