Just go up and say "hi, I'm name". Doesn't have to be more complicated. Keep your energy levels high and have a 'here to have fun' vibe.

Then ask how they know (the host of the party or whoever brought you along). What's your major. That's the basics, just don't go into interview mode after that.

It's a party! You're there to have fun so drink, dance, play games, and do all the party stuff. If you're having fun then others, especially girls, will want to have fun with you. Don't need to be the life of the party but no one likes a party-pooper either

You know what I do? - I usually look at the group where there's a few guys and a few girls, and then I start a convo with those guys and just shake hands with the whole group (especially that girl I'm particularly interested at), usually I pick the moment when they're discussing something I'm good at. Source(s): I'm the younger brother, though I don't rly hang out with people of my brother since I don't like the company, dumb ppl ain't my cup o' tea... But ay, sometimes it's inevitable. And yeah, I have arguments and A DAM GOOD reason to say they're dumb.
