Before you approach assess the situation.
Talk to them as a unit.
Get the social relation/dynamic between the two. "Lemme guess, best friends"
Logistics - what they're doing tonight, next, tomorrow, etc.
Talk to the other girl first, then bring the target back in.
Reverse, target first then obstacle.

In a 3+ set, the other two can talk to each other.

In a two set, one might get pulled away. But you've given value to both, so maintain the convo.

Give them an escape option that involves them coming with you some place else.

If you're still worried about keeping a girl occupied, merge these two with a group you met before, or push forward into a new set.

Backwards merge - "Oh, you breathe oxygen, I just met someone that breathes that too. (Grab them and introduce them to the last set - now obstacle girl has someone to talk to)

Forwards merge - "that thing that we're talking about, both of you are wrong, let's let these strangers decide" (turn to people next to you, expand the conversation)

This is all pickup 101.

If whatever you're reading or whoever you're watching doesn't cover this, they have poor game. Girls rarely do night life by themselves.
