I'll try to keep this short. I am a 27 year old male. I am in the process of going through a divorce with my wife of six years. While talking to a friend about it I found out that his cousin that I had a huge crush on but was too afraid to ever make a move on before I ever got married is also going through a divorce. I decided that as much of a crush as I had on her back then that I would just message her and talk to her and see how things were going. The part of me that still has a thing for her after almost ten years thought it was just too much of a coincidence and that I HAD to talk to her.

We have been messaging back and forth for around five days now and I THINK things are going decent but I am by no means an expert on women or romance of any sort.

I found out that she had been talking to someone for just over a month and that it was going 'pretty okay'. I confessed to her that I used to have a major crush on her back when we were younger and part of me regretted never telling her before she started dating the man who is about to become her ex husband. I told her that I wanted to let her know now before I lost an opportunity to say something that I still had a thing for her and that I thought that I had to tell her or I would regret it forever if I missed an opportunity again.

She told me that she didn't know how things were going to go with the guy that she was talking to but she always enjoyed the time that we used to spend together and if I wanted to hang out as friends for now then we could.

Is there any way I could try to increase my chances of actually making more of a move on her before she gets into an actual relationship with the guy that she is talking to? Am I just a horrible person for even wanting her to choose me over someone else that she has been talking to for awhile? I don't know how to play it cool but I know better than to blow up her phone or come across as needy. But beyond that I am lost.
