Its a lot of brainwashing and I think some biology. You have to consider we were tribal and didn't have a wealth of options with women. Then considering harems were (and are) a thing, if you did happen to pin a girl down (a high commodity) your offspring with her wasn't going to survive without you being invested in them and the mother.

So for every guy that knocked up a tribal chick and dipped out, those offspring weren't getting fed by some other guy, and certainly, momma ain't going out to land herself a fucking elk to eat. Therefore, those who have offspring that survive? A romantic sap who gives 2 shits.

We haven't evolved for shit. People are still alive who were born and spent most of their life pre-internet and mobile phones. Think about that. A girl can get orbiters from around the planet all day every day. Endless. Validation.

As I explained to a friend recently, we very recently live in an age where ANY and I mean ANY woman, of nearly any birth giving age, no matter how fat, ugly, or disgusting she is can find some fucking thirsty sap to fuck her without a condom. Not Brad Pitt mind you, but some fucking guy. And then... child support. Let me repeat that so it sinks in- as long as a woman can physically bear children, she very easily can find sperm. Child support. No woman really knows anything about in-cel (hell, my 80+ year old single grandmother has had different 55+ year old men trying to hit it for as long as I have been born). There is no wall, no real sexodus. It's really just low SMV men are invisible to them. If every girl on the planet that could bear children wanted to, they literally could get child support this fucking year.

Really step back and think about that.

Because most men are weak and fear competition.

In a purely tribal community where there are very liberal rules (like today) the dominant men fuck the majority of the women and the weak men end up raising children of whom they can merely hope they're the father.

With agriculture and civilization a large passive laborforce became a neccessity (slaves/serfs/peasants/regular joe) so a social pact (marriage) was instituted to give men an official wife that was completely his. Being weak still meant you were a slave to the higher echelons of society, but at least you had a wife and children that were (more likely) yours. This was reinforced through religion.

Today through technology and the pill we have arrived at a place off complete individual freedom. There are zero constraints placed on sexual impulses and very little consequences. As such dominant Alpha males are in high heaven with ever larger harems and weak beta's cry themselves to sleep and masturbate on japanese animated movies.

The Romantic Desire that the world is like a Disney movie and everyone treats each other with respect is a construct of the weak, a fantasy land where being a spineless blob of fat has no negative consequences and the riches of life come without blood, sweat and tears.
