If you’re working out in the evening, ask her to join you for a drink at a nearby venue, or a coffee mid day after the workout.

I would just go up and talk to her a few times without asking her out. After a third time when you get to the gym see if she approaches you just to say hi. If she does, then at this point as her out.

Another thing I'm curious about is; do girls in the US usually go on dates with new people this close to the holidays? I'm from abroad so don't know.
