Tips for asking someone out?

I've always liked the idea of asking someone to do a specific thing with you. So, instead of the awkward "Hey, would you like to go on a date sometime?", I think it's better to say "Hey, do you want to grab drinks at Buck's on Tuesday"? Much more straightforward and less awkward.
