So I was reading Robert Greene's art of seduction. And I was looking at the seductive archetypes to see where I fit in.
The two that stood out to me most are the dandy and the star. However, observing myself in my own life, at my best I'm a charmer.
This has it's goods and it's bads. I'm polite, friendly, ask people about themselves, listen attentively, etc. Typical Dale Carnegie stuff.
On the plus side, I'm generally liked. On the minus side, I'm gaining a reputation as basically a nice guy. You know what I mean.
So I've been trying to become more of a dandy or a star. Problem is, the book is pretty vague. So I'm not sure what concrete steps I should be taking.
For example, the questions I have about the dandy:
How do you be insolent/witty/not care what people think? Or rather, how do you show people you don't care what they think? Because the decision about giving or not giving a fuck about people is an internal decision. So how can you portray to the outside world that you don't care and do what you want.
A big part of being a dandy is being unconventional. How can you do this without breaking law 38?
Being a dandy is about gender norms and being slightly feminine. The question, again, is how? How can you be slightly feminine? Dressing nice, but other than it, is it graceful body language? Is it the way you interact? What is it?
At the same time, Greene talks about ensuring you're not too feminine and about how Valentino added a air of cruelty to him. How does one add such an air of cruelty/masculinity mixed with some femininity?
And the star is even more vague. Like, Greene talks about being ethereal and mysterious. But how?
Any advice is appreciated.
