The title sums it up but there are a few details making this more difficult than a normal situation. Basically I got this girls number through a mutual group chat we were in for a project and messaged her about another class we have together. We've been texting about classes for about 3 weeks now, but the subject hasn't shifted. Its a weird situation because we still haven't met in person. We know who each other are because we see each other in class but we sit on opposite sides, so that's one aspect that's making this even weirder. Another issues is that the school year will be ending in 3 weeks.
Although there hasn't been any deep conversations she does sometimes seem to message me things that she doesn't actually need help with (easy stuff) and the other day she randomly texts me making fun of someone in our class while we were sitting in the class. I honestly have no clue if she's interested or if these are just random occurrences and I don't know how to make an attempt to hang out without coming off as desperate.
Main question; Given the weirdness of our situation (haven't actually met and at this point it would be weird to go up to her after a whole semester of sitting on the other side of the room), the fact that we've only really talked about school, and the fact that there's less than 3 weeks left at university, how can I make an attempt to possibly ask her out or at least turn the conversation without coming off as desperate.
additional: She sits in class with some guy friends she has around her so I am not exaggerating when I say going up and trying to talk to her would probably be very awkward so that's really not an option unless she's sitting alone one day.
there doesn't seem to be anything here
