I have just swallowed the red pill and I am first working on my physical aspect, due to a fair amount of physiological problems. I have been seeing a counselor for the good part of ten years. It has only been around now that the counseling has started to work. The counselor has suggested a few things but I am running into a problem with them.
Mainly with meditation.
I used meditation before, but when I used it was when I would be headed into the ring. When I was first taught mediation, during karate it was taught to me as a way to prepare the mind for a training or fighting. When I moved from karate to boxing/MMA I continued to use it as such. I believe that only using it as a form of preparation for battle I developed a sympathetic nervous response, so my body turns on the fight or flight (or freeze) reflex. Now that I am trying to use it as a form of clarity, I get the fight response.
The counselor, along with a few other people suggested I use guided meditation but I found it to be distracting.
To sum it up is their a way to reprogram my way of thinking when it comes to meditation, or do I even need to change it?
