So I'll try to offer my insight here based on what you told me.

The TL;DR is you get the girls that come to you but are not interesting to you, but can't get the girls that you go for. You get some successes, but those typically end up in the friendzone?

I'm just going off of that, so correct me wherever I'm wrong.

It sounds like you aren't escalating with these girls that you approach that leave you in the friend zone. The majority of the time when a guy is friend-zoned is when the guy never makes a move, so the girl assumes he isn't interested and she loses that romantic interest. If you feel like what I'm saying isn't true, give me some examples of how you escalated and we can judge that.

These girls that come onto you, they already know what they want and they're willing to come to you to get it. They're essentially doing the work for you. It's easier for you. My theory is you act more loosely with these girls than with the ones you really want. You put more pressure on yourself when you take the first approach and compose yourself differently. You never really get to "be yourself" and that's probably part of the reason it never seems to work out.

This is all coming from my own personal experiences. I always made a conscious effort to be extra nice to the girls I really wanted because I didn't want to screw anything up. Ironically, it hurt my chances more because I never really allowed myself to be me. I don't know if this is the case here with you or not, but let's talk it out and figure it out :)
