You could call it whatever but I think personally we have all been there where we were making major progress and things either slowed all the way down, you got bored or just couldn’t get passed a certain point/milestone.

So what did you do to get passed that or push to the next level?

Typically there a a few things people do to break through or get over a plateau

  1. Go back to basics - there’s nothing wrong with going back to the beginning to either brush up on those skills, improve the basics/push them to the next level or check to see if you’re missing something.

  2. Change your routine - why the hell not? Trying a different routine be it in weight lifting or some other sport helps the mind and body shift. A lot of times repeating the same thing can get boring so a shift like this can really challenge you and possible expose a few areas of weakness.

  3. Take a break - Again, nothing wrong with putting everything down for a bit and just enjoying life. Don’t stay out of the groove/routine to long but often times it’s a good idea to put everything down and rest.

  4. Focus on something else for a while - I mean, you can never go back to not knowing anything about your art so very similar to switching up your routine, this allows you mind to forget and often times you’ll return with a bit of a challenge (having to get back into it) and easily push through your previous boundaries.

  5. Hire a trainer - or even work with a friend. They can definitely push you if they’re the right person. Similar to a workout buddy, a wing, coach or preferably someone on a whole other level that will force or inspire you to reach a new level.
